Stairway to.................?

Pain. Gasping. Numbness in the legs.
This can be filed under the category: "What was I thinking?"
Actually, not ALL that bad. Did involve gasping. And Pain. But tolerable, and it went away after a short while. In Lebanon, NH there exists a small ski hill. The hill boasts a ski jump, used by much braver (?) people than I. I came up to the landing area via a side trail, and spotted the stairs. I ran around to the bottom, dropped my pack, and casually jogged up them to the point where they level out, which is also the point where the ramp ends, launching intrepid skiers into space, soon to plummet down the landing area....across a wooden bridge, then up a small slope.
ANYWAY.....so then I got the hair-brained idea of SPRINTING up the steps. Back down I went. BOOM! up like a shot. for about 20 steps. Then it gets steeeeep. Or i got tired. plod, plod, plod.... after 30.71 seconds, I arrived at the little shack. clump, clump, clump...back down. (i can do better than that, right?)
WHAT? yep. BOOM! up like a shot. for about 20 steps. (deja vu?) so i got there 1.02 seconds faster this time. 20.69. YAY! mission accomplished.
I then set off jogging with pack along some of the side trails, waiting for Tracey and Bryce to call me to let me know they were headed home from dropping off Mike in southern NH.
We went to home depot...

OH! on the way home i called Tracey to see where they were, and as it turned out, they were on a stretch of interstate that parallels the road that I was ON...so i looked over, and WOW! there they were! NO JOKE. it was pretty cool.......

...yet another project....

ummm...when will i learn? we have been talking about doing SOMETHING with this bank we have in the back yard......it has been mulched, used as a sledding hill, a short-cut to the club house, launch pad for the cats while catching birds, and a sort of soccer practice area. THEN i have to go ahead and say, "honey, i think it would look good with some 'terraced' flower beds."
and ya know, i think i was right! yay! so...here it is, mid-project. of course, more to follow as we fill it in and build a border around the whole thing.

...around the garden....

As usual, Tracey has been hard at work in the garden. As usual, the hard work is paying off. Here are two samples of flowers that are currently in bloom. Photos were taken this morning, 21 MAY 07, around 0745. Ah, the crisp morning air!

Geocache FEVER strikes again!

As you can gather from the last posting, i was able to plant a seed about geocaching... And it was a good place to plant, i must say. Today, as my wife and i were dodging raindrops and spreading mulch in her flower gardens, Babci called to ask US for help with a cache that they were seeking in Stuart, FL. What joy! I was able to give some insight to the clue, and within a few short minutes, wammo!, i rec'd a pix message on my cell phone of Babci with the cache.
A short while later, the phone rang again. With a quick look on maps.google.com we were able to get them straight to the cache.
WONDERFUL.
Here, then, are the pictures......

Geocaching reborn

This past Friday evening I had the cool opportunity to take Zach-er out geocaching. We went to a cache that I had been to back in 2004. No gps....couldn't find it! So we called Babci in FL, she got online and helped us out. As we had given up, and were walking out to the trail, BINGO! I spied it out of the corner of my eye. YAY! We checked it out, wrote in the journal, and then covered it back up. Off we went to join Tracey and Bryce for dinner at Friendly's!
Yahoo~!
Check out the site at www.geocaching.com type in 03766 as the zip code in the upper right corner of the home page. once you see a list of caches, click on Farnum Hill #1.
ROCK ON!

Sleeping Kids

Ahhh....the digital age. Remember when Mom and Dad had to wait several days to get pictures back in the mail? Remember when we had to wait one hour to get them back from Wal-Mart? Those days are gone! We now have the ability to embarrass our children ALMOST INSTANTANEOUSLY, thanks to AL GORE and the WORLD WIDE WEB.
Here, then, are some recent photos....the one of Bryce was taken LESS THAN 5 MINUTES AGO!!!!
gotta love it!
peace...love....bh
